Renewing your Passport
Even if your passport hasn't expired yet, you may need to start thinking about renewing it.
Some countries will not let you enter if your passport's expiration date is near (usually, six months) or if you don't have a few blank pages
for stamps.
So, if you're planning your next trip, it's a good thing to check your passport and make sure you don't have to renew it.
Before you begin, make sure that...
- Your passport is in good condition and only needs a renewal.
- Your passport was made within the last 15 years.
- You were at least 16 when it was issued
- Your name hasn't changed
What do I need to have?

1) Your current passport
To renew it, you'll have to have your current passport (and if you have more than one, you'll need to most recent).
Make sure that it's in good condition, otherwise, you'll probably have to make a new one.
2) Application form and fee
In most cases, you can visit the website of your country's passport office and get the forms from there. You'll be able to print and fill them at home.
Then, you can send these forms by post to be processed. Below are links to US, UK and Australian passport offices with information on where to get the renewal forms.
3) Two new passport photos
In any case, when renewing your passport, you'll need a pair of identical, recent passport photos.
You can save money by making them yourself using Passport Photo.
Before you take your photos, spend a few minutes reading our recommendations for taking good passport photos.
Then, use Passport Photo to print them at home, or in any shop - just like regular photos.
