Supported photo types

The following standard photo types are supported by Photo Backup.

Also, RAW formats of Canon, Casio, Contax, Creative, Creo, Fuji, Imacon, Kodak, Leica, Minolta, Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic, Pentax, Phase, Rollei, Sigma, Sinar, Sony digital cameras are fully supported (see list).

JPEG
Photo Backup reads JPEG, JFIF, and Adobe JPEG files. It writes standard and progressive JFIF files.

TIFF
Photo Backup reads and writes TIFF files. It reads both striped and tiled images, pixel and plane interleaved multi-band images, and either uncompressed, or Packbits, LZW, or JPEG compressed images.

PNG
Photo Backup identifies, reads, and writes PNG files.

GIF
Photo Backup reads GIF87a and GIF89a versions of the GIF file format. Photo Backup writes run-length encoded GIF87a files.

BMP
Photo Backup reads and writes Windows and OS/2 BMP files containing "1", "L", "P", or "RGB" data.

CUR
CUR is used to store cursors on Windows. The CUR decoder reads the largest available cursor. Animated cursors are not supported.

DCX
DCX is a container file format for PCX files, defined by Intel. The DCX format is commonly used in fax applications.

EPS
Photo Backup identifies EPS files containing image data. It can also write EPS images.

FLI, FLC
Photo Backup reads Autodesk FLI and FLC animations.

FPX
Photo Backup reads Kodak FlashPix files.

GBR
The GBR decoder reads GIMP brush files.

GD
Photo Backup reads GD uncompressed files.

ICO
ICO is used to store icons on Windows. The largest available icon is read.

IM
IM is a format used by LabEye and other applications based on the IFUNC image processing library.

IMT
Photo Backup reads Image Tools images containing "L" data.

MIC
Photo Backup identifies and reads Microsoft Image Composer (MIC) files.

MCIDAS
Photo Backup identifies and reads 8-bit McIdas area files.

PCD
Photo Backup reads PhotoCD files.

PCX
Photo Backup reads and writes PCX files.

PDF (write only)
Photo Backup can write PDF (Acrobat) images.

PPM
Photo Backup reads and writes PBM, PGM and PPM files.

PSD
Photo Backup identifies and reads PSD files written by Adobe Photoshop 2.5 and 3.0.

SGI
Photo Backup reads uncompressed "L" and "RGB" files.

SUN
Photo Backup reads uncompressed "1", "P", "L" and "RGB" files.

TGA
Photo Backup reads 24- and 32-bit uncompressed and run-length encoded TGA files.

XBM
Photo Backup reads and writes X bitmap.

XPM
Photo Backup reads X pixmap files (mode "P") with 256 colours or less.
